Plesk Server Health Audit Skill

The free Plesk server health audit skill writes one report on what needs your attention on a Plesk server: suspended or disabled domains, failing DNS and mail authentication checks, recurring log errors and leftovers such as orphan databases. It only reads.

The Plesk server health audit skill is a free Claude skill that answers one question: what on this Plesk server needs my attention? Claude reads the panel through the Plesk add-on of MCP Self-hosted and writes one report with domain status, DNS and mail authentication results, recurring log errors and leftover accounts. Every finding comes with a concrete next step. Claude changes nothing.

What does the Plesk server health audit skill check?

Five areas, from the server down to single domains:

  • Server overview: panel version and platform, IP addresses, and the installed extensions with their version and active state.
  • Domain status: per domain, whether Plesk has it active, suspended or disabled.
  • DNS and mail authentication: Plesk’s built-in DNS check per domain, covering nameservers, A and MX records, email authentication and propagation.
  • Logs: errors from the last 24 hours of web, mail and PHP logs, grouped and counted, so one error repeated 400 times is one line.
  • Inventory: databases and FTP accounts that belong to suspended domains or no longer match a domain.

What does the report from the Plesk server health audit skill look like?

A traffic-light summary on top, then the findings in order of urgency. Each finding names the domain, what is wrong and the fix, for example “add a DMARC record” or “remove database shop_old, its domain was suspended”. You run the fix yourself.

Client accounts get a short section too: status and resource usage per client, such as domains, disk space and mailboxes, so you see who uses what.

Which tools does the Plesk server health audit skill call?

Twelve read tools from the Plesk MCP add-on:

  • plesk_get_server_info, plesk_list_server_ips and plesk_list_extensions for the server overview.
  • plesk_list_domains, plesk_get_domain_status and plesk_check_domain_dns per domain.
  • plesk_search_domain_logs, which searches a domain’s logs by pattern and time range.
  • plesk_list_databases, plesk_list_db_servers and plesk_list_ftp_users for the inventory.
  • plesk_list_clients and plesk_get_client_statistics for the client section.

Most checks run per domain. A server with 80 domains means 80 status calls, 80 DNS checks and 80 log searches. Ask for a subset, such as one client’s domains, when you want a quick answer.

What does the Plesk server health audit skill not check?

It reports what the Plesk API knows. “Status” is Plesk’s own state for a domain, not an outside uptime test: a domain can be active in Plesk while the site returns an error. Recurring errors in the logs point to those cases, but the skill does not load your websites. It also does not read files on the server or scan for malware.

Is the Plesk server health audit skill read-only?

Yes, by design. The skill never calls a create, update, delete, suspend, extension or command tool, even on a seat with Can make changes on. That matters on Plesk more than anywhere: with Can make changes on the add-on also exposes tools that run CLI and shell commands on your server.

Run the audit on a read-only seat. That is the default for the Plesk tool, and on such a seat the write and command tools are not registered at all. Check the mode per seat in My Account → MCP Self-hosted → Seats.

What do you need?

MCP Self-hosted and the Plesk add-on. MCP Self-hosted costs € 217,80 excl. VAT: € 180,00/yr including 3 seats, and the Plesk add-on is € 108,90 excl. VAT: € 90,00 per year. The skill is free and needs no license.

The add-on connects to the Plesk REST API with an API key, not your admin password. Set the panel address as you would type it in a browser:

PLESK_BASE_URL=https://panel.example.com:8443
PLESK_API_KEY=your-plesk-api-key

The Plesk MCP setup guide explains how to create the key.

How do you install the Plesk server health audit skill?

  1. Download it here. Checkout is free, and the zip appears under Skills in My Account.
  2. Claude Code: unzip into ~/.claude/skills/, or into .claude/skills/ for one project.
  3. Claude Desktop: add the zip in Claude’s skills settings.
  4. Ask: “Run a health audit on my Plesk server.”

Other prompts: “Which domains fail the DNS check?”, “Any recurring PHP errors in the last 24 hours?” or “Find databases that belong to suspended domains.”

Who is the Plesk server health audit skill for?

Agencies and hosting admins who run a Plesk server with dozens of client domains and check it by clicking through the panel. A weekly audit run catches a missing DMARC record or a forgotten database before a client does.

The Plesk server health audit skill is free. Download it here, browse the Claude skills catalog, or read the free Claude skills overview.
