Lightspeed Catalog and Sales Snapshot Skill

The Lightspeed catalog and sales snapshot skill is a free Claude skill that gives you a one-page view of a Lightspeed eCom (C-Series) webshop. Claude reads orders and products through the Lightspeed add-on of MCP Self-hosted and reports revenue, best-sellers, stock warnings and gaps in the catalog. The add-on can only read, so the skill cannot change anything in your shop.

What does the Lightspeed catalog and sales snapshot skill report?

Five blocks, for a period you choose:

• Sales: number of orders, revenue and average order value.
• Best-sellers: the top 10 products by revenue and the top 10 by units.
• Stock warnings: products and variants with low or zero stock, best-sellers first.
• Catalog hygiene: products or variants without a SKU, with a zero price, or without a category.
• Three suggested actions to close with.

The order matters. A zero-stock variant of a top-10 product is a lost sale today. A missing SKU on a product nobody buys can wait.

How does the Lightspeed catalog and sales snapshot skill get its data?

Through two tools that wrap the Lightspeed eCom REST API. lightspeed_list_endpoints tells Claude which resources it is allowed to read. lightspeed_get fetches one of them: products, variants, categories, brands, orders, the line items of one order, customers or coupons. Anything outside that list is refused.

Sales figures come from orders. Best-sellers need the line items, and Lightspeed keeps those under each order, so Claude fetches them order by order. Stock comes from products and variants, which each carry their own SKU, price and stock.

Where are the limits of the snapshot?

Three, all from the add-on and the API:

• Results come in pages of at most 50 items. A month with 600 orders is 12 pages before any line items are read.
• One response is cut off after 20,000 characters. A page of 50 full orders can be longer than that, so ask Claude for smaller pages when a result ends in “(truncated)”.
• The add-on reads categories and products, but has no endpoint for the table that links them. “Without a category” is only as precise as the category information in the product data of your shop.

For a large shop, start with a short period, such as last week, and widen it once you have seen the result.

Can the Lightspeed catalog and sales snapshot skill change prices or stock?

No. The Lightspeed add-on has no write code at all: it only sends GET requests, on every seat, whatever mode is set. There is no Can make changes switch to turn on. The snapshot tells you what to fix; you make the change in the Lightspeed back office.

Which Lightspeed shops does it work with?

Lightspeed eCom, the C-Series webshop platform, in the EU and US regions. The add-on connects with an API key and secret from your shop’s back office:
