The Missive weekly inbox digest skill is a free Claude skill that turns a week of Missive conversations into one Monday-morning briefing. Claude reads your inbox through the Missive add-on of MCP Self-hosted and tells you who is still waiting on a reply, which threads went quiet and which tasks are open. It only reads.

What is in a Missive weekly inbox digest?

Four sections, in this order:

  • Open conversations sorted into three groups: waiting on us, waiting on them, and stale.
  • Open tasks, with their state, title, due date and the conversation they belong to.
  • Recurring themes of the week, such as delivery questions or invoice requests.
  • Team response figures from Missive analytics, when you give Claude your organization ID.

Each conversation line carries its subject and last activity date, so you can open it in Missive straight away.

How does the Missive weekly inbox digest skill decide who is waiting?

By looking at who sent the latest message. Claude lists the conversations in the inbox you name, then reads the most recent messages of each one. If the customer wrote last, the thread is waiting on you. If your team wrote last, it is waiting on them. A conversation without activity for a longer stretch lands under stale.

You choose the scope. The digest works on your own inbox, a team inbox or a shared label. Missive requires one of those three for every conversation list, and the add-on has no tool that lists teams or labels, so give Claude the team or label ID when you want more than your own inbox.

Which Missive tools does the Missive weekly inbox digest skill use?

Only read tools from the Missive MCP add-on, all available in the default read-only mode:

  • missive_list_conversations returns subject, last activity, message count and team, up to 50 per call, with paging further back.
  • missive_get_conversation adds task and draft counts and shared labels.
  • missive_list_messages returns sender, date and a preview of each message, up to 10 per call.
  • missive_list_conversation_comments reads internal comments, including task state.
  • missive_list_tasks lists tasks by state, team or assignee.
  • missive_create_analytics_report and missive_get_analytics_report request and fetch an analytics report.

The analytics report counts as a read: it changes nothing a customer sees. Missive needs a few seconds to build it, and a finished report expires about a minute later, so Claude fetches it right after the request.

Where are the limits of the Missive weekly inbox digest skill?

Three, all from what the Missive API returns. First, message lists give previews, not full bodies, so themes come from subjects and previews. Second, a task in the list shows its title, state and due date but not who it is assigned to. To group tasks per person, give Claude the Missive user IDs and it filters per assignee. Third, analytics needs an organization ID, which the add-on cannot look up for you.

A large inbox also means many calls: one list per 50 conversations, and one message lookup per thread.

Does the skill send, close or label anything?

No. The Missive weekly inbox digest skill never sends a message, closes a conversation, adds a label or creates a task. It works on a read-only seat, and that is how we recommend you run it. Write tools such as missive_send_message are not even registered on a read-only seat, so Claude cannot call them by mistake.

What do you need to run the Missive weekly inbox digest skill?

MCP Self-hosted and the Missive add-on. MCP Self-hosted costs € 217,80 excl. VAT: € 180,00/yr including 3 seats, and the Missive add-on is € 72,60 excl. VAT: € 60,00 per year. The skill itself is free and needs no license.

The add-on needs one variable, a Missive API token. The Missive MCP setup guide shows where to create it in Missive.

MISSIVE_API_TOKEN=your-missive-api-token
