WordPress plugin documentation

WordPress plugin documentation for AddoBase, the free connector, and the paid add-ons that run on it, such as Addofy. Install AddoBase, connect your site, switch add-ons on and manage licenses, sites and updates.

What does the WordPress plugin documentation cover?

This WordPress plugin documentation covers everything that happens in wp-admin and in My Account → WordPress plugins on addocore.com. It has four sections:

  • Getting started: what AddoBase is, and how to install it and connect your site to your AddoCore account.
  • Add-ons: how switching add-ons on and off works, and a setup guide per add-on, starting with Addofy.
  • Licenses and sites: trials, licenses per number of sites, managing sites in My Account, the license key, updates and the data AddoBase sends.
  • Troubleshooting: every AddoBase message with its cause and fix.

In which order should you read the WordPress plugin documentation?

For a first site, read in this order:

  1. What is AddoBase: the free connector, the add-ons and what happens without a license.
  2. Install AddoBase and connect your site: download, upload, then Connect with AddoCore.
  3. Switching add-ons on and off: Install and switch on, the Plugins screen and My Account.
  4. The setup guide of the add-on you use, for example Addofy setup.
  5. Free trials and plugin licenses: trials, renewals and what a license covers.

The other pages in Licenses and sites are reference: open them when you manage several sites, cannot connect a site, plan updates or review what leaves your server.

What do you need before you start?

AddoBase needs WordPress 6.5 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer, on a single site; WordPress multisite is not supported. You also need a free account on addocore.com. In wp-admin you need an administrator account: connecting needs the manage_options capability, installing add-ons needs install_plugins and switching them needs activate_plugins.

Where do you start for common goals?

  • Try an add-on. A trial covers one site and needs no payment details. Start it with Try free for N days on the AddoBase screen. There is one trial per add-on per account.
  • Move a license to another site. Switch the add-on off on the old site and on at the new one. Each site where an add-on is on uses one site of its license.
  • A site cannot finish the connect flow. Use your account’s license key instead; the add-ons are then switched from the Plugins screen of that site.
  • A site moved to a new domain. A new address is a new site. Disconnect the old one and connect the new one.
  • Add-ons are paused. The site has not reached addocore.com for 96 hours. Check outgoing HTTPS and WP-Cron, then click Check now.
  • You review privacy. AddoBase sends the site address, three version numbers and the list of AddoCore plugins, nothing else.

How does the WordPress plugin documentation relate to the products?

AddoBase is free and has no features of its own beyond licensing, switching and updates. Each paid add-on is a separate plugin with a yearly license per account. When you buy it you choose how many sites it covers, for example 1, 5, 25 or unlimited. When a license ends, the add-on stays installed with its licensed features off, and its settings and data are kept. Updates come from addocore.com through AddoBase, not from wordpress.org.

This WordPress plugin documentation is about plugins you install on your own WordPress site. Letting Claude work with a WordPress site is a different product: the WordPress add-on for MCP Self-hosted, documented in the WordPress MCP setup guide of the MCP docs.

How does AddoBase work in short?

After connecting, AddoBase holds the state AddoCore sent: which add-ons you are licensed for, which are switched on for this site and their latest versions. It refreshes that state twice a day, when you open its screen and after every switch. If addocore.com cannot be reached, the last state keeps working for 96 hours. AddoBase never deletes or deactivates your plugins on its own; it only stops starting an add-on’s licensed features.

Where do you find help in wp-admin?

The AddoBase screen does not link to every doc, but its license and status labels, update notes and errors use the same wording as the pages here, so you can search for the exact text. In My Account, the WordPress plugins tab links to this overview under “Need help with installing, connecting or licenses?”. Start the WordPress plugin documentation with What is AddoBase, and keep the troubleshooting page at hand for the first connect.
