Install and connect AddoBase

Install the free plugin, choose Connect with AddoCore and confirm on addocore.com. It takes about a minute.

What you need

  • An administrator account in WordPress.
  • A free account on addocore.com.
  • A site that opens with https://.

Step 1: download AddoBase

  1. Open the AddoBase page and choose Get AddoBase, free.
  2. Check out. It costs nothing, but you need to be logged in to your AddoCore account.
  3. Download the zip from the order confirmation. You also find it later in My Account.

Keep the folder name addobase inside the zip. Add-ons look for that name.

Step 2: install the plugin

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin.
  2. Choose the zip, then Install Now and Activate Plugin.
  3. A new menu item AddoBase appears, just below Plugins.

Step 3: connect the site

  1. Open AddoBase and choose Connect with AddoCore.
  2. Your browser opens addocore.com. Log in if asked.
  3. Check the site name and address, then choose Connect site.
  4. You are back in WordPress, with a message that the site is connected.

Finish within 15 minutes, otherwise start again. You connect once per site.

How you know it worked

The card at the top says Connected. Below it you see the add-ons for your account. On addocore.com, the site appears in My Account under WordPress plugins, Sites.

When it does not connect

  • The link expired: more than 15 minutes passed, or you finished in another browser. Choose Connect with AddoCore again.
  • The site does not open with https://. Connecting needs a secure address.
  • Still stuck, for example on a locked-down network? Use a license key instead.

Disconnect a site

Choose Disconnect and confirm. The place this site held in your licenses is freed. You can also do this in My Account.

Technical details

For developers and site builders: rights, security and the data AddoBase keeps.

Show the technical details

To connect AddoBase, install the free plugin, open AddoBase in wp-admin, click Connect with AddoCore and confirm the site on addocore.com. It takes about a minute. You need an administrator account in WordPress and a free account on addocore.com.

Where do you download AddoBase?

From your AddoCore account, as a free order.

  1. Open the AddoBase product page and click Get AddoBase, free.
  2. Check out. AddoBase costs nothing, but you need to be logged in to your AddoCore account.
  3. Download the zip from the order confirmation, or later from My Account. Free downloads are listed under the Skills tab there.

The zip contains a folder named addobase. Keep that name: add-ons declare Requires Plugins: addobase, and WordPress matches that against the folder.

How do you install the plugin?

Upload the zip like any other plugin.

  1. In wp-admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
  2. Choose the zip, click Install Now, then Activate Plugin.
  3. A new top-level menu item AddoBase appears, just below Plugins.

Activation schedules a license check twice a day through WP-Cron. Until you connect, the only request to addocore.com is a check for a newer AddoBase version.

Each action on the AddoBase screen needs its own WordPress capability:

  • manage_options: open the screen, connect, disconnect, Check now
  • activate_plugins: switch add-ons on and off
  • install_plugins: Install and switch on
  • update_plugins: the Update to x.y.z buttons

How do you connect AddoBase to your account?

Start on the site, confirm on addocore.com, and you land back on the site.

  1. Open AddoBase. The card at the top reads Connect this site. Click Connect with AddoCore.
  2. Your browser goes to addocore.com. Log in if you are not logged in yet.
  3. The page Connect a WordPress site asks whether to connect your site to the AddoCore account you are logged in with. Check the site name, the URL and the account, then click Connect site. Cancel stops the attempt.
  4. You return to the AddoBase screen with the message “This site is now connected to your AddoCore account.”

Finish within 15 minutes of clicking Connect with AddoCore. After that the attempt expires and you start again. The site address must use HTTPS; plain HTTP is only accepted for local development hosts such as .test, .local or localhost. You connect AddoBase once per site. The link survives deactivating and reactivating the plugin.

What do you see when you connect AddoBase successfully?

The card heading changes to Connected, with the text “This site is connected to the AddoCore account …” and your e-mail address partly masked. The buttons are now Check now and Disconnect, and a line below them shows when the last check ran, for example “Last checked 1 min ago.”

The Add-ons table lists every add-on available for your account, with its license and its status on this site. On addocore.com, the site now appears under My Account → WordPress plugins → Sites with the badge Connected and a “Last check” time. From there you can switch its add-ons too; see Managing sites in My Account.

How is the link secured when you connect AddoBase?

The flow uses a one-time code with PKCE. The site creates a secret verifier and sends only its hash to addocore.com. The code that comes back is useless without the verifier, which never leaves the site. After the exchange the site receives its own site ID and secret, stores them encrypted in the database, and signs every later request with that secret. Your AddoCore password never reaches the WordPress site.

With each check, a connected site reports its URL, its WordPress, PHP and AddoBase versions, and the AddoCore plugins installed on it with their version and whether they are active. Nothing else about the site is sent.

Why does it fail to connect AddoBase?

When an attempt to connect AddoBase fails, the message tells you which step went wrong:

  • “The connection could not be completed: it expired or did not start here. Try again.” More than 15 minutes passed, or you finished in another browser or as another WordPress user than the one who clicked Connect.
  • “Connecting was cancelled.” Someone clicked Cancel on addocore.com.
  • “This connection link is incomplete or not valid.” This appears on addocore.com, for example when the site address does not use HTTPS. Open the AddoBase screen and click Connect again.
  • “This connection code is invalid or has expired. Start connecting again from your site.” The code from addocore.com was not used within 10 minutes.
  • “AddoCore sent an incomplete answer. Try connecting again.”

If Check now fails later, the card shows “Last attempt failed:” followed by the reason. The last good state stays valid for 96 hours, so a short outage changes nothing for your add-ons.

What if you cannot connect AddoBase from the site?

Use a license key. Some sites cannot finish the browser flow: no admin who can log in to addocore.com, or a locked-down network. Under the card, open Use a license key instead, paste the key from My Account → WordPress plugins → License key and click Save key. The key has the form:

MCPTE-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

The card then reads Using a license key, and you activate add-ons in the Plugins screen. See Using a license key instead of connecting.

How do you disconnect a site?

Click Disconnect and confirm “Disconnect this site? Licensed add-ons stop working here until you connect again.” AddoBase tells AddoCore, which frees the places this site held in your licenses, and then forgets the credentials and the license state. You can also click Disconnect site in My Account.

What comes after you connect AddoBase?

Once you connect AddoBase, the add-ons table is ready to use. Next: switch add-ons on and off for this site. For background on the plugin itself, read what AddoBase does.
