WordPress plugin trial and licenses
A WordPress plugin trial from AddoCore gives you a complete add-on on 1 site for a fixed number of days, without payment details. You start it from the product page or from the AddoBase screen, and it stops by itself unless you buy a license. Your settings stay either way.
How do you start a WordPress plugin trial?
From the product page or from the AddoBase screen in wp-admin.
- On the product page, click Try it free for N days. Under the button it says “No payment details needed. Covers 1 site. Stops by itself.” Logged out, the button reads Log in to try it free for N days.
- On the AddoBase screen, click Try free for N days in the add-on’s row. It opens the product page in a new tab.
The cart then shows the add-on at no cost, with the note “Free trial” and the line “14 days, 1 site. No payment details needed; it stops by itself unless you buy a license.” Check out as usual. Back on your site, click Check now on the AddoBase screen, then Install and switch on. The License column now reads “Free trial, 14 days left”.
What are the rules of a WordPress plugin trial?
- A trial covers 1 site.
- No payment details are asked, and no subscription starts.
- You must be logged in: the trial belongs to your AddoCore account.
- One trial per add-on per account, and only while you hold no license for that add-on.
- The length differs per add-on; see the AddoBase add-ons docs. Addofy uses 14 days.
- An add-on with a free tier has no trial; take the free tier instead.
If a trial in your cart is no longer available, for example because you used it in another tab, the cart removes it with “A free trial was removed from your cart: it is no longer available for your account.” You are never charged for a line you added as a trial.
Which e-mails do you get during a WordPress plugin trial?
Two. The first arrives 3 days before the end, as long as the trial is still running and you have not bought a license. The second arrives when the trial has ended without a purchase. Both come from addocore.com and go to the e-mail address of your account.
What happens when the WordPress plugin trial ends?
The add-on’s licensed features switch off. The plugin stays installed and active in WordPress, its settings and data stay in the database, and the On this site column reads “Installed, licensed features off”. The License column shows “No license” with a Buy a license button. When you buy one, the features come back with the settings they had. For Addofy, see Addofy setup.
Can you buy a license during a WordPress plugin trial?
Yes. Buying a license during the trial turns the trial into that license. The site keeps running without interruption and keeps its place in the license, and the “ends soon” e-mail is not sent.
How do plugin licenses cover sites?
A license is per add-on and per account, billed yearly through a subscription. You choose how many sites it covers when you buy it. Addofy, for example, comes in tiers of 1 site, 5 sites or unlimited sites: From € 60,50 /yr per site excl. VAT: € 50,00 or € 6,05 per month. Each site where the add-on is switched on uses one; switching it off frees that site again, so you can move a license between sites any time. How that works per screen is in Switch add-ons on and off.
You can hold one license per add-on. Adding a second one to the cart shows “You already have a license for this plugin. Manage your sites from My Account.” To cover more sites, contact us; changing the number of sites on an existing license is not self-service yet. Your licenses are listed under My Account → WordPress plugins, with columns Plugin, License and Sites (for example “2 of 5 in use”). EU VAT is handled at checkout, including reverse charge for B2B customers.
How do renewal, failed payments and cancelling work?
- The subscription renews automatically. You manage it under My Account → Subscriptions, or with the Billing button next to a license under WordPress plugins.
- If a renewal payment fails, the license stays active for 7 more days. When the payment then succeeds, nothing changes for your sites.
- If it is still unpaid after those 7 days, the license is taken back. Once it is paid again, the license returns with the number of sites it had.
- If you cancel, the license runs until the end of the period you already paid for.
- After a license ends, the add-on stays installed with its licensed features off. Settings and data are kept. Updates stop until you renew; the AddoBase screen then shows “Renew your license to update”.
What happens on a site that is offline?
It keeps working for 96 hours. A site checks its licenses with AddoCore twice a day. If it cannot reach AddoCore, it keeps using the last known state for 96 hours. After that, licensed add-ons pause until a check succeeds again; they then resume on their own. This applies to a WordPress plugin trial and to paid licenses alike.
What do you need before you start?
A connected AddoBase on the site; see Install and connect AddoBase. Then pick an add-on from the WordPress plugins catalogue and start your WordPress plugin trial from its product page.
