How do AddoCore WordPress plugins work?
Our WordPress plugins are split in two: a free connector called AddoBase, and paid add-ons that run on top of it. You install AddoBase once per site. It connects the site to your AddoCore account, shows which add-ons you are licensed for, switches them on or off and delivers their updates. The add-ons do the actual work. WordPress will not activate an add-on without AddoBase, so it is always the first install.
What does AddoBase add to wp-admin for WordPress plugins?
AddoBase adds one top-level menu item, AddoBase, and nothing else. That screen shows the connection to your account and a table of add-ons with their license, whether they are on for this site, and the installed version. From the same table you start a trial, install and switch on an add-on in one click, or install an update. What is AddoBase covers the screen in more detail.
What do you need to run these WordPress plugins?
The requirements are short:
- WordPress 6.5 or newer.
- PHP 8.1 or newer.
- A single site. WordPress multisite is not supported.
- A free account on addocore.com.
- HTTPS on the site, to connect it to your account.
Connecting needs an administrator with the manage_options capability; installing add-ons needs install_plugins.
How do you install and connect AddoBase?
Get AddoBase free from its product page, download the zip from your order confirmation or My Account, and upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Then:
- Open AddoBase and click Connect with AddoCore.
- Log in on addocore.com if needed and check the site name, URL and account shown.
- Click Connect site. You land back on the AddoBase screen.
Finish within 15 minutes of clicking Connect, or start again. For a site where that browser flow is not possible, a license key from My Account works instead. The full steps are in install and connect AddoBase.
How do trials and licenses for WordPress plugins work?
Most add-ons have a free trial for one site, without payment details. The length differs per add-on; most use 14 days. You get one trial per add-on per account, an email 3 days before it ends and one when it has ended. Buy during the trial and the add-on stays on without interruption.
A license is per add-on, billed yearly through a subscription. You choose how many sites it covers when you buy it: 1, 5, 25 or unlimited. Each site where the add-on is switched on uses one of those sites. Switching it off frees that site, so you can move a license between sites at any time. See free trials and plugin licenses.
What happens when a license ends?
The add-on stays installed, but its licensed features switch off. Settings and data are kept for when you renew. AddoBase never deletes or deactivates plugins; it only stops starting the add-on’s features. Updates for that add-on stop until the license is active again.
If a renewal payment fails, the license stays active for 7 more days. If you cancel, it runs until the end of the period you paid for.
Where do updates for our WordPress plugins come from?
Updates come from addocore.com, not from wordpress.org. They show up on the normal Updates and Plugins screens like any other plugin, with the changelog under View details. On the AddoBase screen you can update an add-on in one click while it stays active. Add-on updates need an active license; AddoBase itself always gets updates. More in updates for AddoCore plugins.
What does a site send to AddoCore?
A connected site checks in twice a day, and also when the AddoBase screen opens and after every switch. Each check sends the site URL, the WordPress, PHP and AddoBase versions, and the AddoCore plugins installed with their version and status. Other plugins are not sent. No content, users, orders or customer data ever leave the site. The full list is in what AddoBase sends to AddoCore.
If a site cannot reach AddoCore, it keeps using the last known license state for 96 hours. After that, licensed add-ons pause until a check succeeds, then resume on their own.
Which WordPress plugins are available?
The catalog above lists every add-on with its trial length and price. Addofy is one example: it turns the WordPress and WooCommerce backend into a calmer admin with light and dark mode, a command palette and per-role visibility of menus, columns and notices. Its setup guide shows how an add-on is switched on from AddoBase.
Start with the free connector: install AddoBase, connect your site, then pick the WordPress plugins you want to try from the catalog.
