The WooCommerce order triage skill is a free Claude skill that works through a batch of WooCommerce orders and tells you which ones need a human decision. For each of those orders it gives a risk flag with the reason, a refund-or-replace suggestion and a drafted reply to the customer. Routine orders are counted, not described one by one.
What does the WooCommerce order triage skill do?
It turns “check the new orders” into a fixed procedure that Claude follows the same way every time. Claude pulls the batch you name, splits routine orders from the ones worth a look, and reports only on the second group. An order counts as routine when payment went through, nothing about it stands out for your store and there is no open refund or dispute.
For every order that needs attention you get:
- A risk level (low, medium or high) with the specific signal behind it, never a vague “looks suspicious”.
- A refund-or-replace suggestion with one sentence of reasoning, when the order already has a refund or return case.
- A short drafted reply to the customer about the next step.
The result is a table with order number, flag and suggested action, followed by the drafted replies.
What is in the download?
The download is a zip with one folder. It holds a SKILL.md file with the instructions Claude follows and a README.md with install notes. There are no scripts, so nothing executes on your machine. The header of SKILL.md tells Claude when to use the WooCommerce order triage skill: whenever you ask it to review, triage or work through open or recent orders.
Which tools does the WooCommerce order triage skill call?
The skill uses tools from the WooCommerce add-on of MCP Self-hosted:
woocommerce_list_orderspulls the batch by status or date range. If you just say “new orders”, it takes pending plus on-hold.woocommerce_get_orderfetches the detail of each order worth a closer look.woocommerce_list_customersshows a customer’s order count and total spent, because a first order at a high value reads differently from a repeat customer.woocommerce_add_order_noteandwoocommerce_update_order_statusare optional and only run after you confirm the order and the action.
The first three are read tools. The two write tools only exist for a seat with Can make changes on.
What do you need to run the WooCommerce order triage skill?
You need MCP Self-hosted and the WooCommerce MCP add-on. Downloading the skill needs no license, but without the add-on Claude has the instructions and no access to your orders. MCP Self-hosted costs € 217,80 excl. VAT: € 180,00/yr and includes 3 seats; the WooCommerce add-on is € 157,30 excl. VAT: € 130,00 per year.
The seat you use in Claude must include the WooCommerce tool. Read-only is enough for triage. Choose Can make changes for that seat in My Account → MCP Self-hosted only if Claude should write order notes or change statuses after your confirmation. The WooCommerce MCP setup guide covers the store URL and REST API keys.
How do you install the WooCommerce order triage skill?
Installing takes a few minutes:
- Download the skill from this page. Checkout is free, and the file is listed under Skills in My Account.
- Unzip it. In Claude Code, copy the folder to
~/.claude/skills/to use it in every project, or to.claude/skills/inside one repository. - In Claude Desktop, add the skill through Claude’s own skills settings.
- Ask Claude to triage a set of orders and check that it calls the WooCommerce tools.
~/.claude/skills/woocommerce-order-triage-skill/SKILL.md
Which prompts start the triage?
Plain requests work. Examples from the skill itself:
- “Triage this morning’s new orders.”
- “Go through pending and on-hold orders and tell me which ones need attention.”
- “Is order #4821 suspicious?”
In the example in SKILL.md, Claude pulls 14 on-hold orders, counts 11 as routine and lists 3: a medium risk because shipping and billing country differ on a first order, a damaged item where it suggests a replacement, and a stock delay with a drafted delay notice.
What will the WooCommerce order triage skill not do?
It reports and drafts; it does not resolve orders. The first pass never changes a status, never adds a note and never starts a refund. Every write needs a separate confirmation from you that names the order. It also never calls an order “fraud”. It gives a risk level and the signal, and you decide.
Know the limits of the data behind the WooCommerce order triage skill. The order detail from the WooCommerce add-on contains status, customer name and email, total, payment method, date and line items. Shipping address and order notes are not part of it, so a signal that depends on them only counts when you paste that information in. If customer history is not available on your seat, the skill says so instead of guessing. With several stores in WOOCOMMERCE_CONNECTIONS, Claude picks the store by id.
How does the triage skill differ from the refund pattern analyzer?
The WooCommerce order triage skill handles orders one at a time, as they come in. The WooCommerce Refund Pattern Analyzer skill looks back over a period and ranks products by refund rate. Both run on the same add-on, so you can use them side by side.
The WooCommerce order triage skill is a free download. Get it from this page, browse the other skills in the Claude skills catalog, or read how skills and add-ons work together on the free Claude skills overview.
