MCP Self-hosted add-on model

The MCP Self-hosted add-on model splits mcp-core into one MCP Self-hosted license for the server and separate licenses for each tool add-on. You install the server once. Every add-on you buy adds an entitlement to your license, and the running server loads exactly the tools those entitlements allow. Nothing you have not bought is exposed.

What does the MCP Self-hosted license include?

The MCP Self-hosted license covers the server itself: the Docker image, authentication, the license check and the built-in mcp_status tool. It costs € 217,80 excl. VAT: € 180,00 per year and includes 3 seats and 1 activation. MCP Self-hosted on its own exposes no business tools; it is the base every add-on plugs into. The MCP Self-hosted product page has the current terms.

Which tools does the MCP Self-hosted add-on model offer?

Each add-on is a group of tools for one system. The setup steps per tool are in the MCP setup guides.

  • Missive: conversations, messages, contacts, tasks and analytics; write mode adds sending and updating.
  • WooCommerce: orders, products and customers; write mode adds order status, order notes and stock.
  • Database: list tables, describe a table and run queries on MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL.
  • Brain: a markdown knowledge base Claude can search, read and write.
  • WordPress: posts, pages, media, users, menus and settings.
  • Lightspeed eCom: read-only access to the C-Series API.

Add-ons start from € 72,60 excl. VAT: € 60,00 per year. They are not all the same price, so check each product page. If the tool you need does not exist yet, request a custom add-on.

How does an add-on reach your server in the MCP Self-hosted add-on model?

It is already there. One published image contains every tool. Which tools a server registers is decided at runtime from the entitlements in the license check, for example tool:missive or tool:woocommerce. When you buy an add-on later, there is no new download and no reinstall:

  1. The add-on is added to your existing license.
  2. You get an email that lists the environment variables the tool needs.
  3. You enter them in .env or under the Tools tab of your license in My Account.
  4. You run the refresh command, or wait for the next scheduled check (within 72 hours).
docker exec mcp-core npm run refresh-license

A tool without an entitlement is not registered at all. Claude does not see it in the tool list, whatever is in your .env.

What is the difference between activations and seats?

They are two separate limits, and the MCP Self-hosted add-on model counts them independently.

  • Activation: one running mcp-core container. MCP Self-hosted includes one. A second container on the same license is refused with the message that the license has reached its maximum number of active installations. Free the slot with Release on the Advanced tab.
  • Seat: one identity that connects to a running container, with its own token, its own subset of tools and its own read-only or read-write mode per tool. MCP Self-hosted includes three.

So one server, used by three people, needs one activation and three seats. An extra seat costs € 18,15 excl. VAT: € 15,00 per year, bought as a separate product.

How do entitlements and seats work together?

In the MCP Self-hosted add-on model, the license holds the full set of entitlements. Each seat gets a subset. A team can license Missive, WooCommerce and Database, then give support staff only Missive and WooCommerce in read-only mode, and give one developer Database access. Every request is authenticated against a seat, and the server builds the tool list for that seat on each request. Entitlements vs tool modes covers the read-only and read-write side in detail.

How is the MCP Self-hosted add-on model billed?

MCP Self-hosted and every add-on are yearly recurring subscriptions, paid through Mollie. Some products also offer monthly billing with a 12-month minimum term. Manage everything under My Account → MCP Self-hosted. The Add-ons tab of a license lets you add or remove add-ons: adding one starts its own yearly billing immediately. EU VAT is handled at checkout, including reverse charge for B2B customers with a valid VAT number.

What happens when an add-on is removed or lapses?

Removing an add-on stops future billing right away, but the tool keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for. After that, the entitlement is gone from the next license check and the tool disappears from the tool list on the next request. No restart is needed.

A problem with the whole license works differently. If AddoCore cannot be reached, a 96-hour grace period keeps everything running. If the license itself is revoked or expired, entitled tools stay in the list but every call returns a clear error that explains why. mcp_status stays available in every state.

Are free skills part of the MCP Self-hosted add-on model?

No. Free Claude skills are separate downloads at €0 and need no license. A skill describes one defined task; an add-on gives Claude live access to a system. They work well together, but neither depends on the other.

Is there an option without your own server?

Yes. With an MCP Hosted seat, AddoCore runs the server for you, billed monthly, with the first month free. The MCP Self-hosted add-on model applies there too, with the same add-ons and entitlements.

That is the MCP Self-hosted add-on model in short: one server, tools by entitlement, access per seat. To price a setup, use the pricing calculator, then follow Install MCP Self-hosted.
