MCP license renewal and expired licenses

MCP license renewal is automatic: the MCP Self-hosted license and each add-on renew as yearly recurring payments through Mollie, and a successful charge extends the license by another term. If a charge fails, the line shows Payment issue for 7 days before it is suspended. You manage all of this in My Account → MCP Self-hosted and My Account → Subscriptions.

How does MCP license renewal work?

Every product on a license is its own recurring line: the MCP Self-hosted license, each add-on, each bundle and each extra seat. Each line has its own renewal date and its own Mollie subscription. The MCP Self-hosted license costs € 217,80 excl. VAT: € 180,00 per year and includes 3 seats and 1 activation. An extra seat costs € 18,15 excl. VAT: € 15,00 per year. Add-ons start from € 72,60 excl. VAT: € 60,00 per year; prices differ per add-on. Some products can be billed monthly, with a 12-month minimum term.

When the MCP Self-hosted line is paid, MCP license renewal moves the Valid until date one term forward. Your server needs no action: the new date and entitlements arrive with the next license check.

Where do you see your MCP license renewal dates?

The renewal dates of every line are on the Overview tab of each license under My Account → MCP Self-hosted. The table there has the columns Subscription, Status, Amount, Renews and Actions. My Account → Subscriptions shows the same lines across all licenses, plus the automatic billing block. The dashboard lists your Upcoming renewals.

Which emails come with MCP license renewal?

Three emails relate to MCP license renewal. You switch them on or off under My Account → Options:

  • Email me 30 days before a subscription is automatically renewed: on by default. It names the license, the amount and the date it will be charged to your saved Mollie payment method.
  • Email me when an automatic payment fails: on by default. It asks you to update your payment method before a given date, which is the end of the grace window.
  • Email me when a license check fails: off by default. It arrives when AddoCore refuses a check, for example after a suspension.

What do the subscription statuses mean?

Each line in the table carries one of these statuses:

  • Active: paid and current.
  • Payment issue: the last charge failed. Everything keeps working while you fix the payment method.
  • Suspended: the charge stayed unpaid for 7 days, or the payment was charged back or refunded. What this line granted is switched off.
  • Cancelled: you cancelled it. The badge turns red right away, but the line keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, then it stops.

On the Add-ons tab, a cancelled add-on that still runs shows “Already cancelled. Stays active until” followed by the date.

What happens when an MCP license renewal payment fails?

A failed, expired or cancelled Mollie payment puts the line on Payment issue and sends the payment-failed email. Nothing changes on your server yet. If the line is still unpaid 7 days after the failure, it is suspended, and the effect depends on what the line granted:

  • MCP Self-hosted line: the license itself becomes suspended. The next license check returns “This license key is not valid or has been revoked.” and mcp-core blocks every tool call right away.
  • Add-on or bundle line: the entitlement is removed. The tool disappears from Claude’s tool list after the next check.
  • Extra seat line: the seat limit of the license drops by that number.

A suspended license gets no 96-hour grace. That window covers a server that cannot reach AddoCore, not a license AddoCore refuses. See License grace period for the difference.

How do you restore a suspended license?

Mollie keeps the subscription in place during a suspension, so the next successful MCP license renewal charge restores the line: the license becomes active again and removed entitlements come back. To make that charge succeed:

  • Open My Account → Subscriptions and check the automatic billing block. Use Change payment method, or Set up automatic billing if none is active. You verify a card or SEPA Direct Debit once.
  • Wait for the next charge. The line returns to Active once it is paid.
  • Run the refresh command on your server so it picks up the restored license straight away.
docker exec mcp-core npm run refresh-license

If the license had already lapsed, the new term counts from the payment date. Contact support if a line stays suspended after a successful payment.

How do you cancel an MCP license renewal?

To stop an MCP license renewal, click Cancel next to the line on the Overview tab of the license. The confirmation says: “It will keep working as normal until” the end of the paid period. “After that date it stops, and no further payment is taken.” For a line with a minimum contract, the remaining payments up to the contract end are still collected, and it keeps working until then.

When the paid period ends, what the line granted is revoked. Cancelling the MCP Self-hosted line means the license is suspended at the end of the term; cancelling an add-on removes that tool. You don’t need to change anything on the server.

What does your server show during each state?

The built-in mcp_status tool tells you where you stand. During Payment issue it still reports the license as valid. After an MCP Self-hosted suspension it shows License state: invalid with the note that tools are blocked, followed by the message from AddoCore. After a successful payment and a refresh it shows valid again with the new Valid until date. The MCP error codes page explains each message.

Keep your payment method current and MCP license renewal needs no work from you. Next, read MCP license management to see the rest of the Licenses page.
